does this sound familiar?
That crafty mood strikes and you want to sit down and create a few cards. Perhaps you need a card for an upcoming occasion. Or, maybe, life has been a little chaotic, and you want to de-stress by making some cards.
You head to your craft space and start digging through your supplies. Stamps, ink, paper, dies…there’s lots to choose from, but you’re not quite sure where to start.
So you turn to your computer, or, maybe pull out your phone or tablet. You’re always bookmarking and saving all those great card ideas you see on Instagram and Pinterest. You’re bound to find something, right?
Scrolling through your collections on Instagram and your boards on Pinterest, it jumps out at you. There! The perfect card.
Feeling excited and energized, you head back to your supplies.
Only…you don’t have the stamp set(s) used for that card. And you don’t even seem to have anything that is similar to what was used.
Back to your “inspiration” collection you go.
But every time you find a card idea you think will work, you either don’t have a similar stamp set or dies, or maybe the patterned paper, or perhaps you don’t own the ink colors or mediums….
Or maybe you WERE able to find stuff to start, but now you’re struggling with making it all work together. You can’t decide on colors. Patterned paper or no patterned paper? And where they heck should you put those darn embellishments?
UGH! 😩 The clock is ticking. You are running out of that special “me” time you set aside for creating. The frustration levels are creeping upwards.
All those supplies. All those tutorials and classes you’ve followed. Endless collections of card “inspiration”…. yet more often than not, or at least more often than you’d like…it’s a struggle.
I’ve been an artist and a card maker for over 15 years, teaching thousands of students around the world. And in that time, I can’t even begin to tell you how often I’ve heard that exact story, or version of it ….
What if I told you that it doesn’t have to be this way?
That I can guide you to the point in your card making where…
You won’t need to rely on finding a card to C.A.S.E. (aka “copy and share everything”) when you are ready to sit and create. Instead, you’ll be able to turn ONE card idea or card sketch into 10, 20 or more beautiful card designs.
You’ll never feel limited by your card making supplies or feel like you need to buy “all the things” to create or recreate a card you love. Instead, you’ll be able to see endless creative possibilities within the stash that you already have.
Making a card won’t feel like takes forever any more. Instead, you’ll have a simple process for deciding on a card design and quickly choosing all the products you need to bring that design to life.
Introducing…
In The Confident Card Maker Membership™ I’ll help you hone your card making skills and style. I’ll also teach you my PROVEN PROCESS to help you develop the skills and creative confidence you need to be able to come up with YOUR OWN beautiful card designs. You’ll learn things like….
How to take ANY card idea or ANY sketch you see and turn it into a card design that is uniquely yours.
How to stretch the supplies you already own and learn how to thoughtfully add new supplies to your stash.
How to quickly and effortlessly combine your stamps, dies, inks, paper and embellishments to create cards you love.
This is exactly What I Need!
the story behind the membership
The Confident Card Maker Membership™ is a new-ish membership.
The premise of this membership is something that is not only new to me, but something that I believe is new to the card making space as well.
I know that there are already plenty of awesome online (and in-person) card making classes, tutorials and even memberships in the card making space. And these classes share loads of new ideas, techniques and product how-to’s.
This is great, and there is a definitely a need for these classes.
But from what I’ve seen and experienced, there is one thing that they are ALL missing.
They don’t teach you a process for taking what you learn and making it your own.
Essentially, you simply learn how to re-create what they are demonstrating.
Now let me be clear here. I am in no way putting down any of these classes.
In fact, for over 15 years that is exactly how I taught my classes. Thousands of students worldwide – both online, and in-person. And I taught this way because it was the way I learned, and therefore the only way I knew how.
I never even realized there might be a better way, until recently.
Five years ago, I took a card making “sabbatical” so that I could pursue other creative passions.
Since then I have taken many classes in acrylics, watercolor, sketching, photography, weaving, embroidery….you name it. And I’ve spent a lot of time, on my own, growing and developing my creative and artistic skills.
When I started making cards again, my card making had transformed.
Only I didn’t notice until people started to point it out.
Over and over again I had people telling me that while they had always loved my cards, my card making had evolved. Before, my cards were “really nice,” now, they saw them as “works of art.”
So that got me thinking and wondering about what had changed.
That’s when it hit me.
In the card making space, C.A.S.E.ing (aka “copy and share everything”) is encouraged and even celebrated. So when I started exploring other creative passions I went into them with that mindset.
I would try and copy my teacher’s artwork.
I learned VERY quickly that C.A.S.E.ing art, is very different from C.A.S.E.ing cards.
It NEVER, turns out the same. C.A.S.E.d artwork is never as nice as the original.
But it goes deeper than that.
True artists and makers (in whatever medium) have learned one crucial lesson.
Copying is okay when you are FIRST learning. But once you are comfortable with the medium, you’ll never grow as an artist until you develop your own voice.
So I had to learn how to take what was demonstrated, and make it my own.
And in the process of that, I learned a process (I know, kind of meta 😂)
I never really considered teaching that process until a few months ago. As I engaged in conversations with my online friends and followers, the same things kept coming up over and over again.
So I did a survey because I wanted to see if what I suspected was true.
Do you know what I found?
About 60% of my respondents struggle with a lack of confidence in their card making.
Yes, 60% of card makers struggle with taking what they see and making it their own.
Some of the things that came up over and over again included:
👉 Not knowing how to take a card they were C.A.S.E.ing and making it their own. Or, not liking how it turned out when they did.
👉 Wanting to use sketches as a creative jumpstart, but not being comfortable with translating the sketch into a design they liked.
👉 Getting stuck when it came to choosing stamp sets, paper, colors, embellishments.
👉 Not loving, and sometimes not even liking, a lot of the cards they created.
I’ll be honest with you.
Reading all of these comments made me sad.
But I could so relate. Because 5 years ago, I was thinking and feeling a lot of those same things.
All that has changed for me. And I want it to change for you too.
Which is why I decided to launch this membership.
I’m tired of struggling with my card ideas
So what exactly is this going to look like?
here’s what you’ll get each month
A monthly lesson covering one of the principles of card design and composition. Every month I’ll go over a different design principle in depth, and show you exactly how to apply that design principle to your cards.
A monthly card sketch and sketch alternate. Every month you’ll get one main card sketch and a sketch alternate. The rest of the month will then focus on showing you how to transform that sketch and sketch alternate using different products.
Video tutorials and PDF Handouts. Alternate designs for the monthly card sketch and sketch variation released weekly – featuring a combination of video tutorials and PDF Handouts.
A members-only website and a Private Facebook group. The membership content will be hosted both on a members-only website as well as within a private Facebook group where you can ask your questions and share your creations.

Other frequently asked questions
While getting new crafting supplies is always fun, the aim of this membership is to help you get creative with the supplies you already own. So I encourage you to check your stash first. If you don’t have anything remotely similar to what I’m using, or if you just feel like you need to treat yourself, then you can buy what I use.
You’ve probably noticed that I LOVE creating with Stampin’ Up! products. But that’s a personal choice. So while pretty much all the products you’ll see me using are from Stampin’ Up!, you are free to use products from whatever company you would like.
Nope! This is purely a digital membership.
If you are looking to buy Stampin’ Up! products, and you don’t already have a demonstrator, you can visit the Stampin’ Up! website at https://www.stampinup.com/ At the top left of that page, select the country you are in, and then click on “Find a Demonstrator.” If you prefer to work with other company’s brands, there are many wonderful online stores to choose from (if you don’t have one locally). My personal favorite is Simon Says Stamp.
Yup! In fact I welcome you with open arms. This membership is open to card makers and those who teach card making.
No and Yes. The processes I teach you and the resources I share related to the design concepts, the color books, the anatomy of a card, the F.A.S.T. formula, how to multiply a sketch… these are proprietary. These cannot be shared. The PDFs for the cards can be used in your own in-person classes.
Meet the Artist
Hey there friends! My name is Andrea Walford. I am a mixed media artist & maker, with a passion for all things creative. Mixed media art, art journaling, paper crafting, collage, watercolor, weaving, embroidery, photography, pottery, cooking….I love it all!
But of them all, card making has a special place in my heart. Because that is where my online journey really began.
When I started making cards in 2005. I had NO IDEA what I was doing. But I’m a life-long learner. When I don’t know something, I figure it out. I take classes (LOTS of classes), and then take what I learn and practice…practice…practice
And I love sharing what I learn. Within a few months, I started offering in person classes and workshops.
Initially they were small and intimate. But, they quickly evolved into large-scale classes with several hundred students. Let me tell you, when your student to teacher ratio is 100+ to 1, you learn how to best serve your students pretty quickly!
I absolutely LOVED teaching. However, as my family grew and life got busier, in-person events no longer fit with where I was at in my life.
That’s when I moved online and started a blog. I loved it. It was the perfect platform to continue to teach and share what I loved. The more I shared, the faster my audience grew.
That’s when I started offering monthly digital card making classes. Not long after I began mentoring other card makers who wanted to learn how to build a class-based business as well.
One thing led to another, and in 2011, I launched a paper crafting video-based membership site. In less than a year it sky-rocketed into the largest and most comprehensive online library of paper crafting and mixed media video tutorials on the web.
It was a dream come true. But with 3000+ videos and 2500+ members, it became an absolute BEAST to manage. And that was just a part of my creative business.
Let me tell you, managing a creative business with 15,000+ combined students & members takes a lot of energy. Especially when you are also a mom to 5 kids and the primary caregiver to a now 99 1/2 year old (my grandpa moved in with us in 2008).
By the end of 2015, I had burnt out. I decided that I needed a “sabbatical “from card making, and from my online business. So I shut everything down to focus on my family, while squeezing in a little self-care.
That’s when I began seriously pursuing other creative passions.
And that’s what I’ve been doing for the last 5 years. I have taken many classes in acrylics, watercolor, sketching, photography, weaving, embroidery….you name it.
I gave myself permission to pursue my own creative interests and to invest in nurturing and developing my creative and artistic skills.
As I did, my passion for card making slowly returned. Although I still dabble in many different art forms, card making is once again front and center.
Which brings me here, today, back full circle. Excited about this new venture.
I’m putting everything I’ve learned in the wider creative world over the last 5 years, and I’m combining it with the teaching experience I’ve gained in the last 15 years. And I’m pouring it all into The Confident Card Maker™ Membership
My goal, my mission, my passion, is to help card makers develop their card making skills and their creative confidence so that they can easily and effortlessly come up with endless ideas for beautiful card designs, that they love.
Won’t you join me?
